Hey All,

This post was placed in the Services Wanted/Services Needed forum, but I thought that it was important enough to post here as well.

DO NOT DO ANY WORK FOR NATIONWIDE COURT SERVICES, NATIONWIDE TITLE SERVICES THEY ARE LOCATED AT 4250 VETERANS MEMORIAL HIGHWAY, HOLBROOK NY 11741, PH. 631-981-4400, FAX 631-981-4842 THEY ARE ALSO DOING BUSINESS UNDER NAMES THEY DO NOT PAY THEIR BILLS THEIR EXCUSE IS THEY ARE UNDER NEW CORPORATION AND ARE NOT RESPOSIBLE FOR PRIOR CORPORATIONS DEALINGS  I DID WORK FOR THEM FOR 6 MONTHS NEW OWNERSHIP GAVE ME WORK UNDER OLD CORPS NAME AND REFUSES TO PAY FOR SERVICES RENDERED JUST WANTED TO WARN MY FELLOW TITLE PEOPLE BE WELL
[post by Anthony Muzio on the Services Needed/Services Offered Forum.]

I'm not a lawyer (yet) but it doesn't seem like a company should be able to escape prior liabilities just by claiming that the previous owners are liable for the invoices.  When one corporation takes over another, shouldn't they take over the liabilities as well?  That is a part of "due diligence" when you buy a business; the sales price should reflect the debts - you shouldn't be able to just tell the debtors that you aren't responsible for the debts before you bought them.

I am curious how many people accept this excuse... and/or continue to do work for the "new" company.  This is part of the problem... whether its right or not, there are too many abstractors that are desperate for work and it is too easy to get away with it.  There is always another abstractor there willing to do the work.

Best,
Robert A. Franco
