We at Source of Title have been making phone calls trying to verify the contact information for the companies listed in our directory. It is a never ending process with more than 5,000 listings. We are noticing that many of the companies listed seem to be out of business.
We are often getting recording messages that the numbers are disconnected and no longer in service. We mark those companies with a red "X" and drop them to the bottom of the search page. This gives those companies some time to update their contact information if they have moved or changed numbers before we remove them completely. Eventually, if they are not updated, they will be deleted.
I am wondering if we aren't starting to see companies closing due to the slow-down in work that so many have noticed.
NOTE: If you have a listing with us, it would be a good idea to update your listing. Even if nothing has changed. Click on "My Account", "Edit My Directory Listing", and then just click the "SUBMIT" button. The "last updated date" appears in your directory listing and this will ensure your potential clients that your contact information is current. Since we don't make verification calls to those who have updated within the last 6 months, it will save us a phone call too.
Best,
Robert A. Franco
