I just had a question because I would like to understand the situation a little better. Normally when a borrower applies for a mortgage, he indicates the outstanding debts of mortgages that actively encumber the title. Payoff letters are then requested from the mortgagees. This usually alerts the lender with whom the application is pending as to the identity and dollar amounts of the debts outstanding.
In the instant case were no payoff letters requested?
