Hey All,
I just got word from our examiners that the computers in Richland County, Ohio are down for the moment. The reason is astonishing... examiners began to notice that when they search a name, it would show how many documents are indexed, but when you try to look at them on a small fraction of them appear. For example, you search for John Doe and it says 33 records found. You click on that name and only 2 records appear.
In some cases, it wasn't showing any records. They aren't sure when this problem started, so now we don't know if we can rely on the searches we have done the past few days, either.
This is an ACS system. Since it is the most used system in Ohio, I am very concerned about what this means about the integrity of the real estate records in the state.
The biggest problem is that since we don't know how long this has been happening if a problem arises, after they get it all straightened out, how will anyone ever know if something was missed because of it.
Best,
Robert A. Franco
