In Ohio, the premium for the policy, and any endorsements we issue, is filed with the Ohio Department of Insurance and that is what we have to charge. We cannot charge more, nor less. Every agent in Ohio, as far as I know, charges the exact same premium. However, the title exam and settlement fee are negotiable and can range from $125 to $350 each.
In my county, the fees are all about the same. There is not much competition on price. Most of the work is directed through long standing relationships, or affiliated business arrangements. There is some competition on service.
