I am fairly certain that Infinity is using Vonage (or some other VOIP telephone system) which is why the phone numbers will show up as being some place in the U.S. but in actuality will be forwarding elsewhere. We use Vonage here (even tho we only moved 15 miles down the road) so that we wouldn't have to change our primary phone number. It is automatically and instantaneously forwarded to our land line. (BTW, I don't recommend Vonage....you cannot believe the problems we've had just communicating with them BECAUSE THEY'RE IN INDIA AND DON'T UNDERSTAND ENGLISH!!)
But I digress...
It's true that we cannot compete with a company that is charging 76 cents an order, but if that system was working so well for them, why are they constantly calling us to get us to work for them? I'm sure it is easy to run title in some states, but it can be hell here in Michigan where 60-70% of orders outside the Detroit area are metes and bounds legal descriptions, and few counties are on line -- those that are only go back a few years. Those that are very much integrated into current technology are expensive. I believe Infinity has some sort of a deal with 1st American, but I'm not certain. That may be why they can do some orders so quickly. On the other hand, how thorough can they be? Eventually, the industry will turn against us and title companies will easiliy be able to do their own work, but not quite yet. I have many friends within the title companies out there as do most of you, and NONE of them have been happy when they've tried Infinity.
