I wish we could do something. I have been doing 7 counties for 11 years. I use to do PG County but the recording departments drove me so insane that I stopped doing that county altogether. The bad thing about PG is that the Clerk will reject the recording with the first thing they find wrong, whether it be recording fees incorrect or no certificate of prep. So, if the checks are wrong, they reject it and give it back. Then you correct that error and drop it off again, only to find out that there is something else wrong with the document. They should go over the entire document and then write on a list what is wrong instead of one reject at a time, what a waste. They act like they are doing us a favor by recording docs when we are providing them food on their table by them having a job at the courthouse. They should allow us to drop off as many docs as we need to to be recorded instead of making us drive back and forth, especially when we are talking about an hour or two one way and not down the block.

Another part of the process is the City of Salisbury, here in Wicomico County. They are closed from 12-2 for lunch so you better set your clock by it. They won't see you at 11:50am either. I have seen abstractors sitting outside waiting for them to open again after driving from Balitmore to do recordings. That is what I call "customer friendly".

I believe that the Clerk of Court is who sets the attitudes at the courthouse and they should make sure that the clerk's that work under them are doing their best at customer satisfaction.
