That's exactly the kind of thing I'm talking about. I used to be an abstractor in another state which had switched to state-wide requirements, which was great, because everything was the same no matter what county you were in. Maryland is nuts, I think they wake up in the morning with another idea just to make things more difficult! That's why I was looking for the possibility of legislation. It seems to me that these obstacles created by the individual county are largely the result of a beaureaucrat attempting to comply with the statutory recording requirements, which is fine. The problem is that they've made it so difficult to comply with their interpretations. The examples you've given are pretty much the norm, and I was wondering if there was a way to legislate a solution. I honestly don't know, and would love to hear opinions. Is there a state-wide abstracter organization of any sort in MD? Would MALTA be of any help?
