When I was working up
America's Loneliest Counties and
The 99 Fastest Growing Counties , I stumbled on a google tool that I wanted to shere with my friends here on SOT.
The satellite photos you see in some of my articles come to me through an
incredible free program from Google. It's like flying anywhere in the
world without ever leaving your home. It's a little spooky though to zoom in
so close you can almost read your car tag.
Here is an example before I zoomed in for a closer look.
The software will even display the images in 3D. It was a lot of fun. I set up a website with some more examples and links for the free download. You can get it
here. But if your prone to virtigo like I am, stay away from the straight down shot of the Eiffel Tower from space.
