I think the "theft of service" charge is particularly fitting in some of the instances that are relayed here on Source of Title. It seems to me that it is quite obvious that some of these companies order their searches from many different abstractors for as long as they can string them along with no intention of ever paying the bill. If they get desperate enough, they may an abstractor the past due balance to get more work completed... but they soon return to their old ways.
I'd love to see a large law suit against a few of those companies and it would be particularly nice to see the attorney general get involved with criminal charges.
