That is interesting. It must depend on the area of the country in which you are located. I agree with you and Loretta about the low ball fees. We never accept them. Right now we get far more than that for a closing. The volume is also good. In the first six months of this year we have more than trippled the revenue we received from closings for the same period of 2006.
We hardly ever do an abstract anymore because of the ridiculously low fees, expense of gasoline for travel and unreasonable conditions of turn around time. Liability insurance also seems to be lower for performing closings as opposed to abstracting.
