I also find Libby's pardon offensive. If you break the law....you pay the price. Just one more example of one crony helping out another for this administration. It was not for Bush to determine whether Libby's sentence was excessive or not. There are federal sentencing guidelines that are employed for this purpose, and the federal court's discretion in this matter was limited by the law. There is usually a pre sentencing report completed in federal criminal cases. The defendant gets so many good points for good behavior, and so many bad points for bad behavior. The good points are deducted from the bad points, and the remaining bad points compute to so many months of incarceration.
Libby's sentence was no greater than that meted out to any other defendant convicted under these guidelines. His sentence was not excessive. If anything he got off lightly. The presidential elections can not come fast enough for me.
