I recieved the same email from LSI on Monday.
Approx 3 months ago they sent out an email stating that copies were no longer needed on their orders (just the deed) and that we needed to lower our prices, and within a few weeks I got an email saying that there were now exceptions to certain New York orders where they would need copies after all!
In my response back to the most recent email I told her about gas prices in NY (over $4.00 a gallon), bridge tolls, NJ turnpike tolls, cost of living, etc. and that no I would not be lowering my prices.
In fact I decided I am raising my prices in NY due to the copies that are now required.
The real problem is that when it slows down these abstractor's who only cover 1 county drop their prices, I know abstractor's in NJ who are doing current owners for $15-$20.00, its unbelievable. There is no viewpoint of the bigger picture.
I agree we have to stick together and set a standard.
