I have worked in PW county since I started and have had the same problem with their instrument numbers- I think all that is needed is to show Ms. McQuigg the changes that Gary did out in Loudoun and that should do it- it also eliminates the mulit-sticker case too- just one stamp on the first page is all that is needed.
Another thing you brought up was having to correct the docs- which is not true- one needs to view the "four corners" of the document ( the entire doc) and determine if there is just one thing that is not correct- if all else can be said to describe the original document without any confusion - it is a good instrument- ie as in a c/s- if the instrument number is off but all the other information is correct, it does in fact do the job, without having to re-record it- I went through this a number of years back when Fairfax added the cover page, the same problem arose there with incorrect db& pg numbers-
Your point is well taken though- wonder why others have not mentioned this to the clerk- better yet- talk to Kathy, Freddie or Kay- they will at least listen to your suggestion.
