There are not 800 employees in the Pittsburgh location. There were around 100+, but they have done several layoffs in the past few months. They are down to around 60 people according to a friend I know who's wife works there. She also said they aren't ceasing operations until 3/31.
And yes, they are affiliated with NRE and IREP. They are located in the same building and used employees from those companies and switched them to Stewart employees. I've heard that NRE & IREP have also done at least 4 layoffs since Sept., and they numbers in the hundreds of people let go. They can't be doing very well if there's been that many in so short a time. They also have to pay back some state grants they borrowed and didn't fulfill their promise to create jobs. A very scary time for the industry.
