Interesting perspective, but just to play devil's advocate...
The standardized pricing you're suggesting is sometimes referred to as price-fixing, and from what I understand, it's highly illegal.
I have to admit that I don't exactly wear a tuxedo to work, but that doesn't mean I'm not a professional. While I can see your point to a degree, some of the record rooms I work in are pretty crusty and not at all conducive to wearing one's "Sunday best". A lot of people just don't want to ruin their good clothes. Besides, how many IT geeks do you see dressing up for work these days?
