I did work for Lee Fraser, the owner of the Bertrum Group for about a year when he first opened.  He never paid me in an appropriate time frame.  He was always months behind on my invoices and they were for large amounts.  It was a struggle to squeeze a partial payment out of him.  I never got a full invoice paid at once.  The money would just dribble in and it was like not being paid at all.  He then hired his own searcher from within his office staff, who by the way, claims to have taught herself to search.  Now that’s scary!

Then, almost a year ago he needed my help because his searcher was ill or something.  Before I took on the work, I made it very clear that I expected payment within 30 days.  He promised and even said he would make sure that I was paid after every search.   Well, that never happened.  I am still waiting to be paid for invoices dating back to May of 2007.  The guy has never paid his debts on time and yet is competing in the same market with us.  I know he has stolen a few clients from me.  To add insult to injury, I’m doing the work for him, he is getting paid for it and I am out a customer.  Keep that in mind if you do work for him.

I have tried calling, emailing, faxing and mailing my invoices to try and get him to pay.  He doesn’t even respond anymore.  My next move is to take him to court.   It is not worth the gamble taking on his work in hopes of getting paid.  The Bertrum Group does not pay – beware!
