We just received a fax from Source Documents requiring $500,000 in E&O per OCCURANCE!!!! if we do not have this coverage within 1 week they will drop us from their list of examiners.

I can't seem to stop laughing at the absurdity of this. Examiners are just scraping by, have sustained losses in work and in monies when companies have gone under and here is this company that sends me one job a month wanting my to triple my insurance amount.

while i understand they need to protect themselves, the days of examiners with no experience is over. Those with the least experience and most mistakes were the first to lose their clients when the belts got tightened. so i am gladly bowing out as an examiner for Source Documents.

to all other RI examiners, give them a call if you meet this requirement... i for one see no need to increase my expenses without a promise of more revenues...
