Robert and others try to start threads with interesting questions and ideas. Sometimes they even work. I am concerned that there are some very naive people on this site who think nothing of bashing companies we work with. I would like to suggest we try some threads where we show just how professional we are. Maybe share ideas or ourselves, who we are. I shared what I do with rate sheets and contact information. What are some of the things you have found that helps? I posted this in a lower thread but to get this started I am reposting.
One thing I did was add a small "form" at the bottom of our rate sheet. Before I will accept any type of order from a company they have to fill out my form, sign it, and send it back to me. This form not only has their contact information... but by signing they have also agreed to our billing and rates. This seems to have helped because we have not had non-payment issues. I do ask for two references and charge them a "rush" fee. I realize that this is not exactly a formal contract but it is better than nothing. This does not delay their search. I disagree with "most" companies are reliable. If they were we would not be talking about these issues.
One more thing... I call their references.
