Michael:
I don't see any problem transferring the information- our counties just filmed each deed book and indexed them accordingly- so if I want to see something, I just enter the deed book& page and , there it is- they also filmed and indexed all of the grantor/grantee indexes for the different years- I just pick the year span and view it just the same as if I was in the record room-no difference. They have filmed and indexed everything that was in the record room and I have complete access to all of that- mistakes do occur, but close contact with each county advising them of glitches that might or have occurred are quickly fixed and everything works out fine.
I just did a re-fi, which I had also done back in 2003 , so it was just an update actually, they asked if they could get in by Monday or Tuesday- I sent it in to them in about 20 minutes- complete with copies and a bill. I have to add, that I retain complete copies of everything I do, so this did not take a lot of searching- just run the indexes and find the remaining or new trust that I did it for the last time- make sure all outstanding loans , other that the one, were released and check for any new judgments-taxes and write it up- was an easy one.
The clerk's in this area took the time to get it right when they did it, although each did it a little different (two are actually the same) but the basic underlying work took care of all the possible glitches as we know them to be. So when we do a search- we are sure to be getting everything that was in the record rooms before they went on line.
