steve, i think what the agents will do is if the lien is $10,000 they will hold at least $10,000 plus in escrow , if the parties see that it is their ss# they will contact the i.r.s and work it out them --provide proof to the agent and get their escrow back. if they say it is not their's they will have to prove it to the agent and one way is by ss#'s.
