We used to have a computer system in our home county that had a limited number of fields for the property description. If they had more than a few parcels, it simply stated "see record." Now, rather than being able to depend on the index to determine which docs to pull, we have to look at a bunch of them. That system was only in use for a few years, but there was no going back and fixing all of those entries when the new system came online. The "see record" was merged into the new index and we still have to deal with it today. It is a real mess when you have one of the "slum lords" who has over a thousand entries in the computer and half of them identify the property as "see record."
Computers are supposed to make searching easier and faster... but they sure didn't do that around here.
