Reminder for Independent Agents - Robert Franco/OH
9/29/2008 11:46:39 AM (4578 views)

The Ohio Association of Independent Title Agents ("OAITA") is hosting a conference in Independence, Ohio on October 6 to organize a national association.  When word spread about the group's efforts to unite truly independent agents in Ohio, the OAITA received phone calls and emails from other states expressing interest.  If you are an independent agent, competing with Affiliated Business Arrangements, this is a conference you won't want to miss.  If you can make it, I would encourage you to be there.

OAITA Preparing to Mobilize National Effort

September 7, 2008

Apparently, good ideas to help fix the title insurance and real estate industry are not confined to the OAITA.

Since OAITA went "live" we have received many comments from other title insurance agents and real estate professionals outside of Ohio. The comments have ranged from "bravo!" to "when can we start one in (insert state name here)." Seizing upon this opportunity, we have held informal discussions with representatives from several states who believe, like we do, that it is time for independent title agents and independent real estate professionals to create a national independent organization and begin taking the policy fight to each of our respective states. So far, we've heard from representatives from AK, MN, CO, IN, PA, NJ, MD & DC. We hope that more folks (with equal issues at stake) will join the group.

On Monday, October 6, 2008, members of OAITA and representatives from states across the country will be participating in a national convention in Independence, Ohio to organize and form the country's first national independent title agent and real estate professional association. For independent title agents, this is the equivalent of the founding act on a national stage. The goal is to create a national organization that answers only to needs of the independent title agent and independent real estate professional. Your help to that effort is critical!

Meeting location:

HOLIDAY INN CLEVELAND SOUTH – INDEPENDENCE
6001 ROCKSIDE ROAD
INDEPENDENCE, OHIO 44131
216-524-8050

The convention will begin at 9:30 a.m. and will run until approximately 5:00 p.m.

In order to attend, please confirm your attendance by e-mail info@oaita.org or by calling Jennifer O'Boyle at the law offices of Holman, Frank & McDonald (440) 232-9911.

There is no cost to attend the convention other than your own travel and lodging arrangements.

For more information see the OAITA Blog and Web site.

Best,
Robert A. Franco
