This question may be more posed towards Kevin or Robert; can we as abstractors file a lien on the property that we did a title search on and didn't get paid? Seems like we could, novel idea if we can. I mean we did the work on this "property" similar to a general contractor. If he didn't get paid he would put a lien on the house. We've all seen them, a subcontractor puts a lien on the residence when the general builder doesn't pay him. More prevalent today. Our clients are getting paid on the HUD, why aren't we? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. This might end the "no-pay" cycle that we're going through.
