I am not going to be able to go to the conference but would love to have my input included and would also love to volunteer for anything needed to get the ball rolling on all this. I think this is a great idea, first of all. Second of all, I agree with a later response about licensing in other states and the states are taxing us and licensing us to death, BUT here in Alabama, I think licensing or certification of some type would be a great idea. It would keep some "Joe" froming coming in off the street and taking your clients saying he does abstracting, when in fact he only knows how to put SOME pieces together and doesn't know the whole picture. I have my real estate license, my notary, my own title abstracting business, and have also worked in mortgage loan closing for five years previous, and I think if license or certification does not take place, then some type of cross-training needs to. I hear too many things go on and alot of time being wasted with people arguing simply because they don't know how the other end of it all works.
