Yeah...I am aware of the post Reconstruction Era Democratic Solid South. Wasn't until Rosa Parks decided not to give up her seat on the front of the bus that things started to ignite.
1. See both George Booth's and my comments above about the Emancipation Proclamation.
2. We were not the first to abolish slavery. The British beat us to the punch in 1833-1834.
3. The Blacks were given the right to vote, but terrorized from exercising it for 100 years.
4. Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on a bus in 1955... I think she has the distinction of initiating change to the Jim Crow Laws rather than the Republican party.
I really have no idea of whether your party of choice supported 26 votes since 1933. The fact remains that it was ineffectual. Nothing changed for another 30 years.
You may have heard the adage that "Justice delayed is justice denied."
