This past June, BRB Abstracting sent a letter out to its abstractor creditors, claiming to be in the process of liquidating and going out of business. All inquires were directed to an attorney who turns out, is a mute. This is old news to those who read this forum at the time. But did they actually stop operating, or was this a deceptive act intended to ditch the creditors? Did anyone here actually receive a bankruptcy petition?
-The BRB web site is still online with a functional order submission form
-Mail addressed to @brbabstracting.com still gets delivered
-BRB still maintains escrow/charge accounts in some of the counties where it did business
-BRB still maintains online access accounts in some of the counties where it did business
-BRB's corporate registration with the State of Wisconsin is still active and in good standing. Last annual report filed in the first quarter of 2008, next one due in the first quarter of 2009, last filing 4/11/08
-Someone still updates the BRB profile at sourceoftitle.com
Creditors have standing to force a bankruptcy. But do any of them have enough motivation?
Gratuitous editorializing:
Considering our economy in general is collapsing due to a lack of trust, operations of this sort are not part of the road to recovery.
