That is a tough question. Its kinda like asking how much a car costs... there is a very wide range. You can buy a Kia Rio, or you can buy a Ferrari F430. I often get frustrated when clients ask me for a quote for commercial work because we usually can't even begin to guess until we are half way through with it. Just like the Ferrari salesman, I usually want to reply "If you have to ask, you can't afford it."
But, that said, here is my rule of thumb. They start at $250 but they can can run into the thousands of dollars. I base the price on the time it takes my examiner and I try to bill around $40/hr. (plus copies, of course). So, if it takes us 30 hours to complete, the bill should be around $1,200.
The other question I usually get is how long will it take... "Ask me in about a week," is what I'd like to say. I try to let my clients know that we will get it done as soon as we can... but, again, we don't know for sure until we are about half way through with it. We usually ask for one to two weeks... sometimes, they take longer.
Best,
Robert A. Franco
