WILLIAM:

In Maine property cards are at the city-town level and real estate deeds-mtgs etc at the county level...Most towns-cities in Maine will let you view the property cards and some are on line...I have never been asked to pay to look...i have had employees stand over my shoulder...but for the most part they are very good about leting you look at the info...

as for the obnoxious employee ask for the persons supervisor!!! usually will get what you need...
