I just got a call from a client. She wanted us to file something TODAY and she wanted to know where her courrier should deliver it. I checked and we do not have an abstractor in that county today. I told her if she dropped it off today we could file it first thing in the morning.
She didn't understant. She wanted to know why we couldn't file it... she said, "so you did the search now you are telling us that you can't do the filing?" I explained that we could not do a same day filing on such short notice because we don't have anyone available in that county.
Do clients really think that we have people just standing around waiting for them to give us something to do? Would it have been too much for them to call us yesterday to make arrangements for an urgent filing?
The call ended with her telling us that they wouldn't be using us anymore. There average bill has been about $80/mo. Somehow I think we'll be okay without them. But I feel bad for their next examiner who will have to deal with them.
Best,
Robert A. Franco
