As is apparent from some recent posts, this great forum that Robert Franco has put long hours into creating and maintaining for the title community sometimes degenerates into a soapbox for moaners, groaners, and assorted whiners.
tsk tsk
We can do better. Much better.
I remember years ago when I was a young second lieutenant in Armor School, the Commandant gave us all a little talk before we took a few days off for a well deserved rest over the Christmas holidays. He scrambled up on the front slope of a tank, put his fists on his hips Patton style and announced that he wished us all a merry Christmas etc., then finished off by talking about when the "steel splits the air" and 'blood is on the ground" etc and that he expected all of to use our off time for "maximum self improvement".
"Holy $%&@" I thought, this guy never lets up! I thought he was pretty off the deep end at the time, but as the years went by I realized he had something there. He wanted us to develop new ways of looking at our free time. Combat had taught him that there are those who smoke, joke, bitch and moan during the lulls in the fighting and there are those who square away their gear, clean their weapons and improve their foxhole. Guess which group has the higher survival rate.
Unless your doing a lot of foreclosure work, times are hard right now. Really hard. The economic news coming out of southern Europe is not encouraging either. What's a guy or gal to do? How about squaring away our gear, cleaning our weapons and improving our foxholes.
Today I had some free time so I worked on my website a bit. Seems like it always could use a little tweaking and sprucing up. As I was fiddling with it I thought about this forum. I don't spend a lot of time in it because I find little of value here. I am fascinated by the possibilities for networking and marketing that the internet provides but there is little discussion of that here. Why is that?
We should be helping each other out, swapping ideas, etc., working together like were in the same army and not a rag tag mob where it's every man or woman for themselves.
Here's what I'm offering. I've been doing the computer thing since the days of DOS. Anybody out there remember DOS? I bought one of the first laptops to come out and humped it down to the courthouse right off. It was years, literally years, before anyone else did. Go figure! I still see most abstractors today using legal pads. Yikes people! Get real.
I make websites too. Lots of them over the years. People seem impressed by that sometimes, but it's ridiculous how easy it is. I could teach a child to do it. No kidding.
Got some time on your hands or are you too busy watching "reality shows" on the wasteland that is American television. Wanna learn how to make a website, create a blog, improve the ones you already have? Ask a question here in the forum. I'll help you out...then I bet someone else will respond with an even better solution. Then we'll all learn something.
Oh well, I've rambled on longer than I meant to. Sorry about that. Anyway troops, if you need any help techno or otherwise ask away here in this forum. It's not just for bitchin' anymore.
Soldier on!
