When you find docs indexed incorrectly, do you tell ROD about the errors?
The problem is, they correct the error, but there is no notation as to the correction. This leaves abstractors who did the search the year before open for a possible claim. If they did the search and did not find the doc because of errored indexing, but the next year it gets corrected and then a foreclosure happens, it looks like they missed a doc, and there is no way to prove that it was not there when the search was done. We have one county that has had a tremendous amount of errors, and I have been reluctant to turn in the errors, because once they correct the doc, there is no notation that the doc has been mis-indexed for 10 years. I called and asked, and was told by the ROD there is no notation as to correction when I let them know of a an errored indexing.
Just wondering what others do.
