In regards to your last line "My understanding is that if you're not incorporated or working as an llc & you own your own home then you might just well be screwed to the wall, even with E&O coverage if you miss something." I am an LLC, however I was told by a real estate attorney that just like any other judgment, if you you are an individual not incorporated or an llc, own your home with your husband, tenants by the entirety, and he is not involved in your business, they cant touch your house. Is that not correct?
