I try to give my clients every benefit of the doubt before posting comments about their failure to pay invoices. I send multiple copies of overdue invoices, I e-mail follow-ups, I call and talk to whomever I can get in touch with, and I cut good clients slack in bad times so long as they follow through with whatever they promise. We have all experienced ups and downs in recent months and I know all too well what it is like to have to meet bills while not receiving payments that are due to you from your clients. So I can empathize, and like try to work something out with clients who have been good clients.
Jess Barker has been a good client until this year. But despite repeated billing, phone calls, e-mails, and even a promise to pay that Jess Barker himself made to me, I have seen no payments from them since March of 2010. In fact, Jess has now taken to ignoring my e-mails and phone calls, returning none of them and offering no reasons for nonpayment. Jess himself posts comments on SOT admonishing abstractors for not paying fellow abstractors. Shame on you Jess.
