A good friend & co-worker of my husband had a sister-in-law pass away w/her 20 something child being the only heir.  The deceased lady has a substantial estate which includes several properties in Florida.  Out of the blue, a man with the last name of Shaw( leaving 1st name out here) , dob 1/5/69 made a claim against her estate in FL for $5,000.  The atty filed an answer from what I have been told, on the last day.  He believes he's a scammer, in jail.  But he doesn't seem to be doing much about it.  We have googled said name & one person comes up in FL w/the same DOB & he is a criminal, lastly being incarcerated for child molestation.  Have any of you heard of jailbirds, criminals filing such bogus claims against an estate?    Seems to me, husband's friend needs a better atty but I don't know the complete story about that.
