1. Dems won majorities in Congress in Nov. 2006, not Nov. 2007, not that it matters much.
2. I wish people would stop pretending that the financial crisis was caused by things that occurred at the time of the actual crash or directly before that. The true causes of the financial crisis have been accumulating for years and decades. In other words, forget about who was in power on the date the downturn began or even who was in power 6 months before or a year before. It's just not that relevant.
3. Many here may have done well during the early and Bush years but that is in no way evidence that the economy was in good long term shape or that it was being managed well by either party. To the contrary, both Democrats and Republicans were putting in place misguided policies that helped create a housing bubble that created the illusion of prosperity for many when in reality the economy was rotting from the inside out.
