As some posters here know, I poke around in the left wing blog scene on occasion. Well, while I was cruising around last night, I saw more title-related stuff than I have probably seen in the last year combined. And the original source of perhaps the most widely distributed item was a relatively frequent Source of Title contributor, Dave Pelligrinelli.
A press release Mr. Pelligrinelli released in February through his company AFX Title, in which he made comments about the title issues caused by gaps in chains of title caused by missing or fraudulent mortgage assignments, was picked up by the very popular left-leaning economic blog Naked Capitalism, in an entry entitled Latest Real Estate Time Bomb: Title of Foreclosed Properties Clouded; Wells Fargo Dumping Risk on Hapless Buyers. The commentary generated a lot of response, and the blog post was picked up by other bloggers on popular left wing blogs like DailyKos and FiredogLake.
Like always, there were some uninformed and erroneous comments, but I thought overall that many of the commenters were reasonably astute and on point.
Also, another blog on a different title issue reached the "recommended list" on DailyKos-- this one regarding mineral rights and polluting gas drillers. It's not great by any means, but it's refreshing to see a title issue or two catching notice for once instead of the usual hyperpartisan propaganda that pollutes that site.
