Robert,
I would never in my life thought to refer to myself, my father, my grandfather or my brother as a "title jockey". If you have ever run a title company you would know the closing agent has enough on their plate and clearing clouded titles is not their job. Simply report and move on? How lazy can you get?
I hate to be so contrite, but I think you are simply an ignorant instigator with little or no experience. Abstractors do not assume the most liability, the agents that write the policy do. Abstractors employ one person, agents employ many if not dozens. I would think the bulk of the liability rests with them. If an abstractor screws up, they lose a client, if an agent screws up, they face lawsuit and possible loss of underwriters.
A word to the wise once again, this is not the place to come and try to flex your little mind muscle. This forum has combined thousands of years of experience tossed into one place. I would suggest you cut your losses and run before someone more brash than I gets ahold of you and gives you a verbal beating.
