Wind farms in the ocean would be a tougher sell, because the enviro-weenies will claim that the wind farms pose a danger to aquatic birds and would disrupt the habitat of the hairy-chested nut scratcher.
Seriously-- I go to the liberal sites, and there is near-universal support for wind energy-- you simply don't hear this argument, even though the turbines do unfortunately chop up a couple birds.
The only objections I've seen from liberals regarding offshore wind is from certain limousine liberal types who have had NIMBY concerns such as impeded sunrise/sunset views at their beachfront vacation homes.
