KC,
Friendship and business are 2 different things, lets not get the 2 things confused. Him paying me had nothing to do with friendship, it had to do with me DEMANDING he pay me.
I stayed, or I should say my book keeper stayed on top of him, and I cut him off one time, and had a check within days. So please do not assume that he paid me out of friendship.
I am not excusing him for not paying the people who did his work, I agree that this is not ethical, but at the same time, as business owner's we have some responsibility in it, don't we? We are not victims and if you think you are, you shouldn't own a company.
I am in business to make money, not lose it. I also have always run a lean machine, I am a working owner and have 2 employee's, I keep the expenses down. I am responsible for my company, clients, employee's and the guys who do my work.
And quite frankly I am getting a little tired of hearing about people's non-paying clients, whining about it gets nothing, how about doing something about it????? You own a company, its your company, you set the policy and choose to enforce it or not. I don't know how many times I have heard guys complaining that someone owed them thousands of dollars and yet they continue taking work from that client????!!!?? Its beyond my understanding and is completely illogical.
Its one thing to post something about a company that is not paying you, its another to whine and curse and carry on about it and not do something about it before it gets completely out of control. There are always signs, indicators, or whatever you want to call them and the thing to do is take ACTION before its to late.
Robert has given tons and tons and tons of advice on what to do over the years in these situations, I for one have taken his advice.
I hope he pays all of you.
