We write E &O coverage nationwide for your class of business. You will find carriers will vary on their minimum premiums. Premiums are based primarily on gross annual revenue, limit and deductible and your own claim history and unfortunately the loss history of the carrier you are being quoted. Without knowing all of the factors of your business, $3500 for a $500,000 limit does seem quite high. It could be the carrier you are insured with is increasing their minimum premium thresholds due to their own claims experience with their entire book of business. Most carriers do not clasify title abstractors separately but lump them into title and escrow accounts too, and unfortunately, there are a lot of claims out there causing all sorts of problems mostly with pricing going forward. I would be happy to take a look for you to see if we can get the pricing down. I can usually get quotes in a day or two.
