Glad to hear it :-) We always like to hear it when people get benefit from the site because that's what it is there for.
I have pride in the SOT website because it is the first website I ever built that got extensive use. I worked out in San Diego during the dot-com era back when everybody thoguht they were going to become an internet billionaire just because they registered a domain name, and during thaat time, I built several sites-- an online auction site, a car racing site, a movie website, and a student book exchange-- but none of them were successful... they just didn't get any use, didn't make money obvously, and the owners soon lost ineterest.
This site has gotten use for going on 8 years-- not a bad run! Sure, we'd like to make more money-- wouldn't everybody! But we have gotten through the worst housing market in 8 years and Robert has somehow kept the lights on-- and gone thru law school with honors, taken an extra year of law school and gotten an advanced law degree, and become not a good lawyer, but a GREAT one. It's been fun to watch his professional development firsthand, and to see professional development the right way, with high ethical standards. I can honestly say that I am not one to kiss up to the boss, but boss, if you read this, I continued to be very impressed in 2010 :-)
The future is uncertain for a site like ours. The housing market is weak, and the abstracting profession, which is our bread and butter here, is threatened by lower seach standards, offshoring, no-pay clients, and cut-rate pricing by fly by night operators that don't have pride in their work and give the business a bad name. When the abstracting profession suffers, we suffer with it. We've seen a lot of people who have contributed to this site go out of business. I think about them from time to time and I hope that they are doing well.
Charlene, best of luck to you in 2011 and beyond. We wish we could clone you and have a participant like you in every state, but you are one of a kind. Your boots-on-the-ground perspective of a side of the business that not all of us get to experience firsthand is very valuable here.
