Deeds Official Asks Trearurer to Pull Account from MERS Member Bank
Last month, Southern Essex (Massachusetts) District Register of Deeds John O'Biren asked the state Attorney General to sue MERS for $22 million in back fees. Now, O’Brien has asked that the State Treasurer to move the Registry's bank account, which generates approximately $25 million per year in deposits, from Bank of America and move it to a local bank that does not use MERS.
