I am so sorry to hear that this happened to you. It's very hard to lose business to someone who is only offering your clients a lower price. There's really no recourse either. Your client is probably looking to cut costs wherever they can; the abstract company sounds like they perpetually troll for new clients & you are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Something like this has happened to me a while ago & it was awful. I wish I could say something to make you feel better but I don't think that mere words will do it. One of the ongoing problems in this industry is that years ago there were very few large title companies & most of the examiners knew each other & respected each other's boundaries. Not the same at all anymore.
I hope that you will survive this & that with Spring coming some more work will come your way.
