You really should not try to make your issues the abstractor's issues. When you order a search and the abstractor performs the work, delivers it and you accept it there is a valid and binding contract...express or implied either in fact or in law. The abstract remains his/her property until you pay for it. You really have no business using the abstract (his/her property) until you make payment in a timely manner.
