Maybe he is the right guy for the job at MERS, given his background. But, I don't see how he can do his job at ALTA with that position. It seems like a pretty big conflict of interest. With the title problems created by MERS, ALTA should be advocating for the best interest of the title industry. I don't see how the same person could possibly defend MERS and advocate for the interests of the title industry.
Of course, I don't think MERS is anything that ALTA should have ever become involved in, and it seems it was instrumental in its design and operation. I believe that goes back long before Mr. Pfotenhauer became CEO of ALTA.
