Before posting this camera stuff you need to check around, most courthouses in Virginia will not allow cameras inside, and the clerks get .50 a page for copies and are not going to give that up, a steady stream of income for them. Many of the courthouses will not allow cell phones, and several require a permit to bring in cell phone and / or laptop, and the number is growing every day. Many of the courthouses here are being remodeled or new ones being built and the first people on the scene are the security salespeople, when the new or renovated courthouse opens, you are metal detected, briefcase and purse scanned, perp scanned, and then you can go to the record room. And as a further insult, Chesterfield County no longer allows you to call into the record room if you need to contact an examiner. In one of our western counties, the clerk had allowed some 3' x 5' plats to be recorded and I asked permission to photograph them so I could have the whole plat in one image instead of a 15 copy jigsaw puzzle and offered to pay to cover lost copy revenue to the clerks office. Permission denied!
