Good morning! I was happy to see this article because we are one of the victims of HAMP disaster. I called my mortgage company in November of last year to inform them that I foresee trouble paying my December 2010 mortgage payment. I was told they could not help me because my account was not delinquent. I didn't quite understand as we were told if we foresee a problem making our payments to contact them immediately. I did and nothing happened. I called in December with the same problem and was told the same thing (our account was not delinquent) and there was nothing they could do. I called in January with the same problem and account now 30 days late. All I got was passed around and frustrated. This mortgage is in my spouses name who is not employed and have been unemployed since Dec. 2007. I have become the sole wage earner in my household and it is really tough trying to make ends meet, and it seems as though no one (Creditors) have any compassion. Our problem with the first modification was the delinquent payments were added to the end of the mortgage and caused the principle balance to rise which caused a flucuation in our mortgage payments. We were modified from $1061. to $858. not much as a savings. I thought the HAMP provided funds to take care of the payments that were delinquent and refinance the balance on account. I could be wrong but I feel this was the problem with us not being able to keep up with the payments after the modification. Please help me understand because I don't think it will be long before the foreclosure process starts. JP MOrgan Chase is our lender. Thanks for posting this article I feel there is some relief down the road.
