This person was referred to me by an off-shore company whose manager I've become friendly with. Naturally I assumed she must pay if she was being referred. She claimed she couldn't get into her Tapestry account (for those who don't know, it's a ridiculously priced mid-West doc plant which charges $6 just to search for the doc - it's not there? Your loss). She hasn't paid me a dime for the March work. Some I was able to get on Tapestry, others I had to pay an abstractor to retrieve. She told me three or four times the check was coming then the last was an excuse that business is slow. As always, I told her we pay regardless of slow-times or non-paying clients. You should have enough in reserves.
My guess now is that she couldn't pull docs on Tapestry because you have to have $25 on your credit card.
Coincidentally, I get a call today from the VM of one of our clients asking if I knew who she was. As soon as he said West Virginia I knew right away. This is third party but he said he'd been hearing from other sources she'd had a number of fraudulent companies, couldn't provide them with supporting docs on searches, a number of other unsavory things and that she doesn't pay her abstractors.
I let the referral source know her poor business practices and that he might not want to refer her or be associated with her company.
She's supposedly on vacation now. Spending what she owes me and others.
Anyone else dealt with this liar?
