Area in question: California
I have a question regarding databases that offer pay-per-document or subscription services like DocEdge that allow users to view county recorder document images instantly online, without having to travel to the county recorder's office.
If the service is offered by a title company like First American, I assume the documents are the same as those in their title plants, is that correct?
Are there other companies that offer such services, i.e. competitors to DocEdge and Datatrace, that I can compare prices with? If so, how does their document availability across California counties and responsiveness of customer service compare to one another? I would prefer a prepaid plan where I can try out the service before making a monthly commitment to that service.
